Here is a collection of Frequently Asked Questions to help those who just arrived and to prevent millions of identical topics.

Q: Hello, I have just registered. Where should I start?
A: You should start by reading the rules and regulations of the forum here. You may then post about yourself in the Introduction Thread here. Please do not create a personal "Hello" thread. Remember that as the title says, Guild Wars Guru is about Guild Wars. Write in clear english, please. If you are unsure, use Spell-Check. Avoid internet-speak and things like "u", "bcuz" "plz" and other silliness such as l33tsp33k. Avoid posting in a hurry: better not to post at all than post an unreadable block of text. If you want to write anything in another language, please provide a short translation in english. Also do not register only to beg for an access key, to troll or to spam the forums. No "Yay first post!" threads.

Q: What are the controls for Guild Wars?
A: You may find the controls here.

Q: Will my computer run Guild Wars?
A: The (current) minimum requirements are:
* Windows?? XP/2000/ME/98
* Intel Pentium?? III 800 Mhz or equivalent
* 256 MB RAM
* CD-ROM Drive
* 500 MB Available HDD Space
* ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX Series Video Card with 32MB of VRAM
* 16-bit Sound Card
* Internet connection
* Keyboard and mouse
If you have anything better, GW should work. I have personally tried the game on a GeForce 2 GTS card and it worked.

Q: When will the game be released?

Q: There is no monthly fees in Guild Wars, right?
A: Yes, there are no monthly fees.

Q: Can you choose your race in Guild Wars?
A: Not at the moment.There were several of such threads so look here for more information.

Q: Are there mounts?
A: No, at the moment there are no mounts. You can read this thread for more information.

Q: I heard the level cap is 20. Is it true? If yes, why is it so low?
A: Yes, the level cap is 20. Guild Wars is not about leveling up. The low cap emphasises the game on skill and not the level. For more information consult this thread.

Q: What happens when you die?

If you're in a mission and your entire party dies the mission is over and you have to restart it. Your party is respawned in the outpost, however any xp or loot you had aquired is still in your posession. If you die in a mission, explorable area, pvp match and someone is able to rez you, you are rezzed with a death penalty (dp).

The death penalty is 15% and I believe can go as high as 60% upon subsequent deaths. This death penalty lowers your overall health and energy making you less powerful. You can work the dp off by killing enemies. Keep in mind that the death penalty is only for that mission, so if you exit the mission and restart you start with no death penalty.
Q: I want to post my screenshots. How do I do it?
A: You need to upload them first either on your personal webspace or on websites like Image Shack.

Q: How do you change the colour of your text/make it bigger/post links/post pictures [etc]?
A: You should read the vB Code List. Don't forget that all code entries start with ['code'] and end with [/'code'].

Q: How to set my profile?
A: The forum FAQ should help you.

Q: I have other questions!
A: Then you need to post them . Welcome, and make yourself at home.

Finally, here's a piece of advice:
Do not argue with Ensign.

great post. I'm working on a FAQ similar to this for this forum right now, but for the time being I'll just sticky yours to the top until I'm done.

Mmm all of the (up to 4) characters on ones PO-Beta account will still be around for release, however all the chars will be `stripped` and set to level 1. At that time players can delete the old Beta chars and remake a new char with the same name. Also, Anet has been so kind to code in a name-pool, which saves your name for your account up to 1 hour after it is deleted. Which means you don't have to worry about someone grabbing your name after you delete it, you'll have up to 1 hour to make a new char with the same name before having to worry if it gets jacked.
